I was born in Siurgus Donigala, a small village in Sardinia. I lived with my parents, my 5 brothers and my paternal grandmother to whom I was very fond of her. In my country I attended elementary school and middle school. They were very difficult years but beautiful because they were careless and you could play outside with friends all over the neighborhood. We had no TV let alone the computer but we had a lot of imagination and plenty of space to play. At age 16 I decided to go to Rome to work with my sister and a dear cousin, but the capital, so hectic and totally different from life in Sardinia, was not for us as well, my sister and I, we decided to go back to Cagliari while my cousin was in Rome.
Initially I was living with my sisters, we rented an apartment and we shared rooms.

I started working as a babysitter and I attended evening classes to become a kindergarten teacher. It was a difficult path, but it helped me to find a job that I liked because children have always given me the great joys. Even now, when I meet them I get excited to see them so grown up and know that you remember me.
Up to 34 years I was the aunt all my sisters had children and I loved to cuddle. In 1983 I met Albert in 1984 and we got married, we lived in an apartment on the outskirts of Cagliari. Alessandra was born in 1985, my first daughter and I came to live with us, my husband’s father and uncle because they were older and could not live alone. Rossella was born in 1989, my second daughter. As they grew, we decided to build a house in the center of Cagliari and we moved them. It was a very difficult period for me because my daughters were small and the elderly grandparents but we overcame that too. The girls grew and I continued to be a teacher. In 2007, Alessandra graduated and moved to Rome, so to feel it closest I decided to learn how to use the computer. It was not easy but Rossella has offered to be my teacher. The first lessons were on basic elements: turn off and turn on the computer, create a word document, create a folder. Then I committed to learn about the internet, this strange instrument that fascinated me so much. Rossella has taught me to do searches on google and send emails.
To keep me in exercise I committed to send an email to the day and when I became more clever, I created a Skype account so we can call Alessandra during her business trips!

Sono nata a Siurgus Donigala, un piccolo paese della Sardegna. Vivevo con i miei genitori, i miei 5 fratelli e la mia nonna paterna alla quale ero molto affezionata. Nel mio paese ho frequentato le scuole elementari e le scuole medie. Erano anno molto difficili ma belli perché erano spensierati e si poteva giocare all’aperto con tutti gli amici del vicinato. Non avevamo la tv ne tanto meno i computer ma avevamo tanta fantasia e tanto spazio per giocare. All’età di 16 anni ho deciso di andare  Roma per lavorare con mia sorella e una mia cara cugina ma la capitale, così frenetica e totalmente diversa dalla vita in Sardegna, non faceva per noi così, io e mia sorella, decidemmo di tornare a Cagliari mentre mia cugina rimase a Roma.

Inizialmente abitavo con le mie sorelle, avevamo preso in affitto un appartamento e dividevamo le stanze.

Ho iniziato a lavorare come babysitter e ho frequentato le scuole serali per diventare maestra d’asilo. È stato un percorso difficile ma mi è servito per trovare un lavoro che mi piacesse perché i bambini mi hanno sempre dato delle grandi gioie. Ancora adesso quando li incontro mi emoziono tanto nel vederli cresciuti e sapere che si ricordano di me.

Fino a 34 anni facevo la zia: tutte le mie sorelle avevano dei figli e io adoravo coccolarli.

Nel 1983 ho conosciuto Alberto e nel 1984 ci siamo sposati, abitavamo in un appartamento nella periferia di Cagliari.  Nel 1985 è nata Alessandra, la mia prima figlia e sono venuti a vivere con noi il padre di mio marito e lo zio perché erano anziani e non potevano vivere da soli. Nel 1989 è nata Rossella, la mia seconda figlia. Mentre loro crescevano abbiamo deciso di costruire una casa al centro di Cagliari e ci siamo trasferiti li. È stato un  periodo molto complicato per me perché mie figlie erano piccole e i nonni anziani ma abbiamo superato anche questo. Le ragazze crescevano e io continuavo a fare la maestra. Nel 2007 Alessandra si è laureata e si è trasferita a Roma così per sentirla più vicina ho deciso di imparare a utilizzare il computer. Non è stato facile ma Rossella si è offerta di farmi da insegnante. Le prime lezioni erano su elementi base: spegnere e accendere il pc, creare un documento word, creare una cartella. Successivamente mi sono impegnata a conoscere internet, questo strano strumento che mi affascinava tanto. Rossella mi ha insegnato a fare le ricerche su google e a mandare le email.

Per tenermi in esercizio mi sono impegnata a mandare un’email al giorno e quando sono diventata più brava ho creato un account skype così possiamo chiamare Alessandra durante i suoi viaggi di lavoro!
