I was born in Rome in 1938 and I have always lived in the capital. My family consisted of my parents and two older brothers. I grew up in the laboratory of mother who was a seamstress and I, since I was a child, I always dreamed of doing his job. We had so many games so I had fun building the dolls with a towel and clothes with pieces of cloth that were advancing from the work of my mom. I never much liked to study but I managed to get the diploma. In his spare time helping my mom to sew clothes and with time I am passionate about the craft and succeeded in his laboratory. In 1968 I married Paul in 1970 and now Maximilian was born, our only son, who has a degree in engineering and currently working in Genova and has three children. The work as a seamstress has always been my passion: in the early years so I am committed to make wedding dresses. When you bought still in the labs I’ve sewn many as 18! I liked it so much even sew pants, sweaters and carry clothes for the children. It is a work of extreme precision but can give a lot of satisfaction. However, in recent years, customers and tailoring jobs have declined markedly because it is easier and saves to buy in the shops. So I had to fold my work exclusively on repairs until they are retired.

The computers I’ve always liked but for many years I was limited to watching my son while he used them, I preferred the sewing machine! When I retired, I enrolled at the University of the Third Age and I attended a course in basic computing. I enjoyed it so much and I realized to be good with new technology so I bought a computer and started to use the internet. I realized that networking is an excellent resource that should be exploited mostly for information on what is happening in the world. I enjoy it especially to make online purchases for my home, I follow blogs cooking and I like to put comments on sites that ask for comments on restaurants. Since I have become very proficient with the use of the computer, I decided to help my friends and teach them the things I’ve learned, so one afternoon a week we organize an informal workshop of computer use.

Sono nata Roma nel 1938 e ho sempre abitato nella capitale. La mia famiglia era composta dai miei genitori e due fratelli più grandi. Sono cresciuta nel laboratorio di mamma che era una sarta e io, fin da quando ero bambina, ho sempre sognato di fare il suo lavoro. Non avevamo tanti giochi così mi divertivo a costruire le bambole con un asciugamano e i vestiti con i pezzi di stoffa che avanzavano dai lavori di mia mamma. Non mi è mai piaciuto tanto studiare ma sono riuscita a prendere il diploma.

Nei momenti liberi aiutavo mia mamma a cucire i vestiti e col tempo mi sono appassionata al mestiere e sono subentrata nel suo laboratorio. Nel 1968 mi sono sposata con Paolo e subito nel 1970 è nato Massimiliano, il nostro unico figlio che si è laureato in ingegneria e attualmente lavora a Genova e ha tre figli. Il lavoro di sarta è sempre stato la mia passione: nei primi anni mi sono impegnata tanto a realizzare abiti da sposa. Quando ancora si compravano nei laboratori ne ho cuciti ben 18! Mi piaceva tanto anche cucire i pantaloni, realizzare i maglioni e i vestiti per i bambini. È un lavoro di estrema precisione ma può dare tante soddisfazioni. Tuttavia negli ultimi anni i clienti e i lavori di sartoria sono diminuiti notevolmente perché è più semplice e si risparmia a comprare nei negozi. Quindi ho dovuto ripiegare il mio lavoro  esclusivamente sulle riparazioni finché non sono andata in pensione.I computer mi sono sempre piaciuti ma per tanti anni mi sono limitata a osservare mio figlio mentre li usava, preferivo la macchina da cucire! Quando sono andata in pensione mi sono iscritta all’università della terza età e ho frequentato un corso di informatica di base. Mi sono divertita tanto e mi sono resa conto di essere brava con le nuove tecnologie così mi sono comprata un pc e ho iniziato a navigare. Mi sono resa conto che la rete è una risorsa eccezionale che va sfruttata soprattutto per informarsi su ciò che accade nel mondo.  Mi diverto soprattutto a fare acquisti on line per la mia casa, seguo vari blog di cucina e mi piace mettere i commenti nei siti che chiedono i commenti sui ristoranti. Poiché sono diventata molto abile con l’utilizzo del computer ho deciso di aiutare le mie amiche e insegnar loro le cose che ho imparato, così un pomeriggio a settimana organizziamo un laboratorio informale di utilizzo del computer.
